I'm truly excited to have a chance to present my Hustle workshop. I've actually been ready for this for at least four years since I was going to do it back then but the time slot got cut from three hours to (if I recall correctly) a half an hour. So needless to say, I didn't get to much material. Here's the plan for my track and I'm sure that Tatyana's will be equally as amazing.
The THREEs of Hustle
About a decade ago I had a coaching with an old Disco dancer that I met. Alas, I've forgetten his name because I'd love to give him credit. That coaching inspired me to develop the Threes method. Since then I've taught it to groups a few times and it's my favorite way to teach my students.
There are three main rhythms. The most popular rhythm has three beats to each pattern. The Follower needs to know three patterns (plus the basic). The Lead needs to be in one of three positions. He leads the Follower in one of three paths. And there are three main footwork variations (plus a plain rock step). Put all those threes together and you get Hustle. And for this workshop, we'll have three hours to put it all together.
This is a track that starts out super basic but escalates quickly. It's meant to give you a truly thorough understanding of Hustle and plant seeds that will germinate and flourish over weeks, months, even years. It's a solid track for experienced dancers who want to improve their technique and understanding, intermediate dancers looking to develop, and even beginners who aren't afraid to jump in and go for it.
I go over all the ideas enough times that they stick and try to make them easy to remember with memory aids. Like grouping everything into threes – a perfect memory aid. Then it's up to you to apply them as you dance, improve, and enjoy.
Hustle - as easy as One, Two, THREE.
I hope I can see some of you all there. You can find all the information Here - http://www.thatdanceguy.org/node/66
